Arirang News2023.3.21---春季種植的燕麥增強免疫力

Oats are the only grain on the list of the top 10 superfoods. Generally, oats are planted in the fall and harvested in June. But the latest studies show that planting them in the spring enhances their health benefits. Lee Eun-jin gives us the details.
Rough in texture and taste, oats were once less popular than other grains. But that has changed recently as the nutritional benefits of oats have become more widely known. Oats are rich in nutrients like protein, vitamins and dietary fiber. Demand for them has been increasing as people have started mixing oats into their daily diet.
"Oats have a better texture and taste than people commonly think they also relieve constipation."
Oats are generally planted in autumn. But the latest research by the Rural Development Administration shows that oats planted in spring, rather than autumn, actually have more health benefits. With twice as many nutrients like highly functional antioxidants and phenolic acid, oats planted in spring are better for strengthening immunity. Animal testing also shows that spring-oats increase the activity of immune cells that remove cancer cells with 13 percent more efficacy.
"Analyzing extracts from oats planted in the spring has allowed us to confirm that it is indeed effective in enhancing immunity."
"To get the full nutrition and a good taste, mix white rice and oats 7-to-3 or you can add oats to five-grain rice."
Including oats in your daily diet is highly beneficial. An easy way is to mix them in with multigrain rice. Researchers say that mixing oats with multigrain rice to replace, or reduce, the consumption of white rice could help boost immunity and reduce obesity. Lee Eunjin, Arirang News.
